Bringing Heaven Down Goes Public?

So first things first, Alyssa and I talked to our friend and fellow coffee-enthusiast Jenny, and - like Kurty - she's now in on the plan that she's been kind of a part of for a long time, and she's definitely down. So be excited. She's got some awesome ideas and she's stoked on ministry via coffee.

Second of all, as we were talking to her and sharing a little about the fact that we've already been blogging to share ideas and keep each other updated, it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to make this blog public. That way, as we start to bring more and more people into this plan, we can keep them updated as well. Obviously, we would still be the only ones to actually post - at least for now - but that way we could send people links and let them know what's been going on and what we're thinking/planning.

Thoughts?

  1. Ooh, exciting, what part does Jenny play in the plan?

I think that's totally fine, we would just have to possibly filter things we say, like maybe cutting back on the "love you guys" references.

I've been talking to a bunch of people about it down here too! A bunch of people have been really excited. I've talked to my friend who has her own espresso machine and i'm going to go over there sometime and start trying to make some drinks as well as try my best at latte art. I'm also going to set up a time to meet with my friend from peet's to first catch up with him, and then tell him about our idea and learn about what it looks like to open up a shop.

Another idea I had... We could probably have more concise tags so that they may even overlap someday (totally sarcastic)

  2. Jenny Bjerke is an amazing woman with a heart and passion for God. On top of that, she knows a lot about coffee. Shes worked at Starbucks, as well as two separate and local Davis coffee shops. She's also a talented musician with a creative personality and a vision for creating a community centered vibe within a business. I want you to meet her some day soon.

Eric, that's saweeet! Keep us posted on how the espresso machine and latte art fun goes.

I don't know how I feel about going public if it means we have to censor ourselves... because I think you're right... it might be good to tone down if we went public, but maybe we should make a separate blog with the things we want to make public and the visions we want to share, but still keep this blog because very selfishly I love having a place to openly share our hearts.

What do you think? Too much? Silly idea?

  3. Yeah, I definitely see your point, and maybe we haven't really reached the point of needing a public blog yet (because I just see the task of reposting a lot of things in an edited form on a separate blog as kind of a chore right now, considering how seldom people would look at it), but it's something to think about anyway. Maybe one of these days. I just find myself wanting somewhere I can refer people to show them more of what we're about/what we're thinking.
